Compare plug-in solar kits and component brands
Compare 6 researched US vendors and 12 documented offers, checked October 2, 2026. Complete solar kits, separately sold panels and microinverters, and a beta carport are different categories; none of these offers verifies outage backup.
Listed prices are dated equipment prices, not final cart quotes. An eligible first-kit promotion is conditional, not a guaranteed discount. Unknown shipping or required fees must not be treated as free. Grid-tied inverters shut down during a utility outage; component UL evidence does not certify a complete panel kit.
Side-by-side product comparison
- Rowkin Energy: Portable 420 W and 840 W panel-and-microinverter kits for daytime grid-tied bill offset, plus separately sold panels and microinverters. No battery is included.
- Bright Saver: Two compact, solar-only balcony packages using a Hoymiles microinverter; membership prices require an annual fee. Neither kit supplies power during an outage.
- CraftStrom: Compare only CraftStrom's 800 W Eco-Line and shop Premium-Line solar kits. Each includes four 200 W panels, two inverters and PowerMeter control; neither includes a battery or outage output.
- APsystems: APsystems sells the 900 W EZ1-LV microinverter direct in the US; the reviewed DIY shop does not sell a complete panel-and-inverter kit, and the inverter is not a battery-backup product.
- Hoymiles: HiFlow Pro LV is a grid-interactive microinverter family, not a battery. The reviewed offer is a 391 VA component sold via NAZ; a complete solar kit requires panels and other compatible parts.
- GismoPower: MEGA is a mobile, 240 V-connected PV carport with EV charging; beta-only access to selected early adopters. It is not a small balcony kit or a generally orderable consumer product.
